VIBE KNOW HOW » The Story of 'Vibration'
The initial idea for the VIBE straightener came out of the ancient Korean tradition for ironing clothes.
In Korea two women knelt on the floor, facing each other across a smoothing stone (called a tatumi-tol), a ‘pangmangi club' in each hand, beating out a rhythm on the cloth until it was wrinkle-free and shiny. Pounding and flattening was the traditional way of tackling laundry. The fabric was folded and re-folded on the tatumi-tol, beaten and pounded until it was perfectly smooth.
In Korea the drumming of ironing sticks was traditionally a joyful sound. People from both East and West describe it as musical: percussion with different resonances depending on the individual blocks and sticks.
This idea was adopted for a flat iron hair straightener and thereafter the VIBE was born. A straightener linked to the ancient method of ironing that created a musical and rhythmic beat, hence:
The combination of heat and vibration results in flat, smooth and shiny hair. The vibration aids the straightening motion and allows the hair to glide effortlessly through the plates without any tugging or pulling and thereby causes less damage.
